CHILD ABUSE RAPS
A 37-year-old man will be facing charges for robbery, illegal possession of firearms and child abuse after he robbed a ngohiong outlet bringing along with him two boys.
Richard Baconawa Rama was arrested at home after he was identified by the victims as the man who robbed the JAJ Ngohiong Express Fast Food outlet in P. del Rosario Extension in barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City at dawn yesterday.
The cashier, Liela Comahog, 51, and a customer, Meramie Corocoto, 22, identified Rama after they were shown a photo gallery of suspects by the police.
Comahog told police that Rama and two boys entered the ngohiong outlet and pretended to be customers.
“They first ate in the ngohiong house before declaring a holdup. The suspect pointed a gun at the cashier while one of the minors took the cash and the bag of the lone customer. One of the minors served as the lookout,” said Chief Insp. David Señor, officer-in-charge of the Police Station 2 Cebu City.
Señor said Comahog was the only employee on duty at the 24-hour outlet which has no security guard.
He said Rama was arrested in his house in Sambag 1.
One of his cohorts, a 14-year-old student was arrested inside the City Central School while he was attending his morning class.
Police, however, still couldn’t identify the other minor was.
The 14-year-old boy was turned over to the Gender and Development (GAD) office.
Police recovered from Rama’s possession a .357 revolver, a Nike bag with assorted clothing, a hair iron worth P3,000 and a cellphone worth P700.
They also recovered P1,660 cash and drug paraphernalia from Rama.
Rama told Cebu Daily News that the two boys were his nephews.
He said he was forced to resort to robbery because he needed the money to buy medicine for his 7-year-old son who has been sick for the past three days.
