Illegal drugs worth P200K seized

NORTH CEBU OPERATIONS

Police confiscated illegal drugs estimated to cost P211,000 in  Asturias, Sogod and Daanbantayan towns in  Cebu last Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Sogod, northern Cebu, regional police officers arrested Roderick Ruiz, a painter, during a buy-bust operation last Tuesday night in barangay Kalumboyan. They confiscated 56 big  packs and a medium pack of suspected shabu, a revolver and nine bullets.

Senior Insp. Joey Bicoy, team leader of the raiding  Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force, said the illegal drugs were estimated to be worth at least P120,000.

Bicoy said Ruiz was classified as a level 2 drug pusher on their watchlist or a person who could dispose 200 grams of shabu in a week.

Ruiz was detained at the Regional Police Office detention cell pending the filing of charges.

In Daanbantayan town, police also arrested 32-year-old Obebfares Taneo Coyoca during a buy-bust operation also last Tuesday.

Police confiscated two medium packs and 13 sachets of suspected shabu, a 9mm pistol and P3,000 cash believed to be proceeds of Coyoca’s illegal trade.

Police said the drugs were estimated to be worth at least P20,000.

In Asturias town northwestern Cebu, police caught   last Wednesday a 31-year-old man on a motorcycle with suspected illegal drugs in his possession in a checkpoint in barangay Loos Sur.

Epifanio Diapana was caught with a medium pack and 15 sachets believed to contain shabu from his pockets.

Senior Insp. Nestor Abapo, Asturias police chief, estimated the confiscated suspected drugs to be worth at least P71,000.

Diapana was detained at the Asturias police station pending the filing of charges.
