Their lone victory of the season subsequently taken away via forfeiture after most of their players failed to submit their electrocardiogram results, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars are straining at the leash to get one when they face the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats in the 15th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball tournament today at the Cebu Coliseum.

In a memo that Cebu Daily News got a copy of yesterday, USJ-R’s 85-68 victory on opening day over the Webmasters was forfeited after it was learned that some players were not able to comply with the aforementioned requirement.

This, coupled with the Jaguars heartbreaking 82-89 loss to the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, means that USJ-R is now at the bottom of the pack with an 0-2 (win-loss) record.

Adding insult to injury, they must now take on a Wildcats squad that gave the defending champions Southwestern University fits before eventually losing, 64-69, last Saturday.

In the juniors division, the reigning titleholders Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles aim for their third win in row when they tackle the UC Baby Webmasters.

At 2-0, the Magis Eagles actually share the lead with rivals, University of San Carlos but they are out to grab the solo lead today with a win over UC.

Tasked with leading the team will be Errol Pastor, who flirted with a double-double last time out with 14 points and nine rebounds.
