Woman with young twins nabbed for riding a carnapped vehicle

A woman who was bringing her young twins on their way to a birthday party was arrested after a brief chase with the police Tuesday morning because  they were riding a carnapped vehicle.

Jennifer Escopete told reporters that she knew the multicab they were riding was carnapped but they just borrowed it from their friend Gory.

Escopete’s husband, Fernando—who was the one driving, escaped when they were chased by the police, leaving Jennifer and their twins and a friend, Glendon Nabua in the vehicle.

In an interview with Jeoffrey Noel, 40, owner of the multicab, he said that he saw the multicab on Escario St. and even if it was repainted from pink to blue, he knew it was his because of the tire rim.

He immediately called for police assistance and the Mobile Patrol Group dispatched a team and chased the multicab up to barangay Guadalupe.

Noel said he lost his multicab on July 9 while it was parked in his residence in Urgello.

Nabua, for his part, said he just rode with the couple as he was also going to the same birthday party.

Police will charge Jennifer, Fernando and Nabua with violation of Republic Act 9539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972.
