A public high school teacher is in serious condition after he was shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman in Barili, south Cebu.
The teacher was on his way home at around 8 p.m. Friday in barangay Minolos.
Amiel Jimenea Villarmente, 42, a teacher at the Lamac National High School, was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds in the back.
Villarmente told police he was on board his motorcycle in barangay Minolos, when the gunman on a DT motorcycle overtook him and fired before speeding off towards Dumanjug town.
The teacher was on his way home to Dumanjug.
Residents in the area rescued the victim and brought him to the Barili District Hospital.
He was later transferred to a Cebu City hospital.
Police are still conducting further investigation to determine the motive of the attack.
