The closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and accounts of witnesses show that there were four motorcycles tailing the car of slain lawyer Amelie O. Alegre before she was ambushed in barangay Looc, Mandaue City last week.
Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr., chief of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said that they are now following leads on the background of the attackers, but he refused to divulge more information so as not to preempt the investigation.

“That’s what we got from the CCTV footage. That explains why the witnesses gave different descriptions of the men who were riding a motorcycle in tandem. The others may have acted as lookout. We now have possible suspects, but we are still doing a background check,” Natuel told reporters yesterday.
Amelie, with fellow lawyer Briccio Boholst and their law firm accountant Antonio “Tanya” Pino, was ambushed in barangay Looc.
Amelie who was driving her BMW car died on the spot while Boholst and Pino were wounded.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Central Visayas (CIDG-7) has stepped in the investigation.
They talked to Ryan Alegre, Amelie’s husband, and Boholst to get their side.
