Almost 3,000 policemen were sent off  yesterday to secure APEC meetings.

Chief Supt. Prudencio “Tom” Bañas, police regional director, instructed the police personnel gathered at  Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr. early morning yesterday to do their job diligently. He also asked the  public to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities in light of the recent bomb blasts in Thailand.

Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) from other provinces also arrived yesterday for security duty.

A total of 5,000 men, including reinforcements  from Bohol and Negros Oriental, will be staying in Cebu until the meetings end in October. Police will be posted in hotels, malls and road routes of APEC meeting sites.
