Traffic volume was heavy but not congested on Monday in the routes designated for delegates of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue, traffic officials said.
“No passenger jeepneys and trucks were allowed to traverse along the ceremonial routes. There was slow-moving traffic at the Waterfront Hotel but this was well managed by traffic personnel detailed in the area,” said Rey Gealon, Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) executive director.
But several truck drivers were caught violating the truck ban.
Gealon said motorists and commuters had to deal with heavy traffic from Salinas Drive going to Mabolo.

Chief Supt. Prudencio Bañas, Police Regional Office (PRO-7) chief, said he ordered an investigation into reports that a van used to transport APEC delegates allegedly beat a red light along S. Osmeña Boulevard and Pope John Paul Avenue.
“We are not exempted from following rules and regulations. If you are a violator, you will be apprehended,” he told reporters.
In Mandaue City, traffic to and from the APEC venues in Cebu City was normal, said Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr., Mandaue City police chief.
The truck ban signed by Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes remains in force from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Trucks, vans and trailers can only pass through Lopez Jaena St. toward M.C. Briones St., M. Logarta Ave., C.D. Seno St., G. Ouano St. and Marciano Quizon St.
