Collegiate volleyball wars start

THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Lady Jaguars and the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) White Stallions will kickstart the collegiate volleyball wars of the Cesafi today at USJ-R gymnasium.

The Lady Jaguars, who finished fourth last year, added young talents to their roster during the off-season.

One of them is newly acquired star Elyssa Sheen Durango, who said that the Lady Jaguars will try to start their season on a high note against a hungry Stallions squad.

CDU is looking to regain its championship form after an early exit in the tournament last season.

In the high school division, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors hope to continue their winning ways as they begin their semifinal campaign against the DBTC Greywolves.

The semis will fllow a single round robin format with the top two advancing to the championship round.

In their last game, the Warriors escaped host USJ-R in straight sets, 25-22, 27-25, ending the first round of action with an immaculate 3-0 (win-loss) record.

USC is slightly favored against DBTC, having been able to beat the Greywolves  in the first round, 25-8, 25-15.
