TALISAY City Mayor Johnny de los Reyes said the Ombudsman-Visayas acted on his complaint on the alleged irregularities during the previous administration of then Mayor Socrates Fernandez.
De los Reyes said he recently got an order from the Ombudsman to submit original copies of the documents concerning the three programs implemented during the administration of Fernandez, now a Talisay City councilor.
In yesterday’s 888 News Forum, De los Reyes said he filed the complaints against Fernandez and Gullas before the Ombudsman three months ago.
The mayor mentioned the purchase of arm chairs for different schools in Talisay, the computerization program which aimed to integrate the system of all the offices of the city government and the purchase of fertilizers.
The purchase of armchairs reportedly cost more than P2 million from the city coffers, but based on a report from the Commission on Audit (COA), no chairs were delivered to the schools.
He said COA interviewed the school principals and they found out that not even one armchair was delivered.
The computerization program of the city then had a budget of P86 million and the city spent more than P36 million but the project did not materialize, the mayor said.
The distribution of fertilizers to the city farmers reportedly reached P28 million through the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of former congressman Eduardo Gullas.
But he said based on COA’s findings, the purchase of the fertilizer was overpriced.
Mayor de los Reyes said he got the copies of the findings from COA when he inquired about the past administration’s transactions.
The mayor promised to send documents related to these projects to reporters but was unable to do so as of 7 p.m. yesterday.
Fernandez and the camp of Gullas were not available for comment yesterday.
