The Cebu Integrated Transport Cooperative (Citrasco) will no longer push through with filing a petition for a fare reduction for passenger jeepneys.
Ryan Benjamin Yu, chairman of Citrasco, said after consultations were made with other transport groups and operators, they agreed not to push through with the plan.
“Prices of spare parts have not changed. Although oil prices continuously go down their gross collection remains the same,” Yu said.
In July, Yu announced that his group may petition to reduce fare rate reduction follwing the rollback of oil prices.
Last January 9, a provisional order was issued by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reeducing the minimum fare of PUJs from P7.50 to P7.
This remains in effect today.
The reduced fare was in response to the petition filed by former Cebu City councilor Augustus Pe Jr.
LTFRB still has to make a final decision on the fare petition.
LTFRB-7 Regional Director Reynaldo Elnar reminded jeepney drivers to observe the P7 jeepney fare.
“Anyone who violates will be penalized for overcharging under Joint Administrative Order (JAO) 2014-01,” Elnar said.
