The secondary division football competition of the ongoing Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) nears its conclusion this weekend at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) field.
The remaining elimination round matches will be played on Saturday with the semifinals scheduled on Sunday. The top four squads after Saturday’s games will advance to the semis the following day.
On Sunday, the defending champions, the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Greywolves, which already booked a semis ticket and the top seed in the division, will take on the fourth seeded squad. The winner in the Saturday matchup between the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Baby Panthers and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars scheduled at 10 a.m. will meet the Baby Greywolves on Sunday.
Meanwhile, second seed Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles will play third seeded University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department (USC-BED) at 8 in the morning.
Both DBTC and SHS-AdC will have to wait for the results of Saturday’s remaining elimination round matches to determine their semifinal foes.
Unlike in the secondary division, the collegiate division’s battles will all be in the elimination round with defending champions, University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors looking to redeem themselves after plummeting to the bottom of the standings by taking on USP-F at 1 p.m. on Saturday while the unbeaten and top seeded USJ-R will play against second seed University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters at 3 in the afternoon.
UC and USJ-R will again play on Sunday against University of the Visayas (UV) and USC, respectively.
