THREE weeks after lawyer Amelie Ocañada-Alegre was gunned down, no arrest has been made but Mandaue police said they will solve the case “soon.”
“Hopefully, the Alegre case will be solved soon. There is progress in the development of the case,” said Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr., chief of the Mandaue City Police Office.
Natu-el said 80 percent of the pictures of the two assailants provided by their informants matched the artist sketches of perpetrators that the police released.
Alegre was killed when motorcycle-riding assailants peppered the BMW sedan she was driving in C. Ouano Street in barangay Looc, Mandaue last Aug. 13.
Wounded in the attack were lawyer Briccio Joseph Boholst, Alegre’s associate in the Boholst Ocañada-Alegre Herrera-Klepp and Remedio law firm, and their accountant Antonio Pino.
The contents of Alegre’s cellphone, iPad and laptop have yet to be examined. The police anti-cybercrime Group is still looking for an expert to do it.
