Cebu Guide app launched

A mobile application providing tourists information on Cebu was launched yesterday in a bid to maximize Cebu’s exposure to visiting Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) officials.

The app, developed for the Cebu provincial government by Innopub Media in partnership with Smart Communications, has  information on Cebu’s history, heritage sites, tourist spots and tour packages.

It also has a list of accommodation facilities, restaurants, accredited tour guides and operators, police stations, hospitals, and other relevant information.

“The application can be downloaded through your Android and IOS devices, which you can use offline. You only need to have internet connection when downloading the app,” said Innopub co-founder Max Limpag.

As of yesterday, Limpag said there have been 1,800 downloads. A third of the downloads were made this week.

In a statement, Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said the app was  among the initiatives that they were working on to make APEC 2015 a success.

Radio TV Malacañang assistant secretary Lito Nadal said the application was useful for 2,778 APEC delegates who are here until September 11.

“There are many  APEC delegates here now and DOT (Department of Tourism) regional director Rowena Montecillo informed us that each delegate spends $100 a day outside of their spending for accommodation. So this is far reaching and I congratulate you for coming up with this,” he said.
