IN an effort to convince Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo to run for vice president, the Leni Robredo for Vice President Movement will be launching a national people’s led campaign to gather a million signatures of support from all over the country.
The movement is hoping that the campaign will help convince Congresswoman Robredo that she is the kind of “Matino, Mahusay at May Puso” leader that many Filipinos are currently hoping for in the government.
The launching will be held on Sept. 8 and will be led by various urban poor communities and leaders from Metro Manila.
The Leni Robredo for Vice President Movement was organized by the civil society group Kaya Natin Movement and supported by like-minded groups and individuals.
A University of the Philippines economics graduate and a lawyer, the 54-year-old Robredo is planning either to seek reelection in her congressional district or to run for a Senate seat.
She earlier said her awareness rating was too low, and that she had too little experience as a politician to run for Vice President.
