Reymelio Delute first entered politics during the 1980s when he served as barangay councilman in Basak
San Nicolas for one term. Then he ran for a seat in the City Council but lost.
In the 1990s, he was elected for one term as municipal councilman in Tuburan, midwest Cebu. He next ran for vice mayor, but lost. A year later he worked as City Legal Officer in Danao City for two eyars.
He he ran again in Tuburan and served as Tuburan municipal councilman for two terms.
When Tomas Osmeña ran for Cebu City mayor in 2001, Delute was among his legal counsel during the elections.
When Osmeña won, Delute became a consultant in the city’s legal office where he served until 2004.
In 2004, he returned to Tuburan town, and ran and served as municipal councilor from 2004 to 2010.
Then he kept a private practice as a lawyer fore he ran again for Basak San Nicolas barangay captain in 2013 as a BO-PK candidate.
He lost to George Rama, Mayor’Rama’s close cousin, by a 10,000 vote margin.
