A drinking spree in a convenience store in Lapu-Lapu City resulted in the arrest of three men who overpowered the security guard and snatched his gun after the guard tried to call their attention.
Luther Joy Molina, 21, a production worker; Joel Rivera, 30, driver; and Roldan Arnelia, 26, a construction worker, were arrested by police after a brief chase.
They are now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office pending the filing of charges of robbery, physical injury and drunkenness.
A security guard of 7-Eleven called Molina’s attention after he banged the glass wall of the store with his hands while drinking beer outside the establishment.
This led to an argument and then to a fist fight.
Rivera and Arnelia reportedly helped Molina in mauling the guard, Roberto Ducoy Jr. They also took his service firearm and fled on board a tricycle.
The incident was immediately reported to Marigondon Police who tracked down the suspects.
Police cornered them on board a tricycle in barangay Gabi in Cordova town.
The security guard’s firearm was recovered from Molina.
