The 700-MAN strong team of Cebu for this weekend’s 2015 Milo Little Olympics Visayas Regional Finals leaves for Iloilo City tomorrow to take part in one of the country’s biggest and longest-running school-based multi-sporting meet.
Seventy schools, public and private, will represent the Cebuano delegation in the three-day competition that will be held in various sporting venues around Iloilo City.
Topping the list of schools will be the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department (USC-BED) and 17-time secondary division champions University of Cebu (UC). Other schools sending teams for Cebu are the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), University of the Visayas (UV), University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), Southwestern University (SWU), Abellana National School (ANS), University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) and other schools from Mandaue, Danao, Talisay, Catmon and Naga.
The sporting events in the meet include athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, scrabble, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. Exhibition sports are arnis and karatedo.
The winning teams and athletes will represent Team Visayas in the National Milo Little Olympics later this year in Laguna.
