Dorma reasserted its mastery over Davies as the defending champion kicked off its title-retention bid with a 71-61 win over the latter in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup on Saturday at the University of San Carlos gym.
Dorma, manned by the core of the Davies Paints Cup champions Fusion, took over the game in the third period, where it outscored its opponents 19-8 to erect a 48-38 lead, one that stood unchallenged until the game’s final buzzer.
Davies Paints Cup MVP Ed Macasling once again showed off his fiery form with 24 points, six rebounds and four steals while Julius Orit and Niel Benedicto logged in all-around performances.
Benedicto flirted with a triple-double with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists while Orit had 15 points, five boards and eight dimes.
Mike Cinco fired in 25 points on top of eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks but it was not enough to carry Davies past their finals tormentors.
