Prince Joey Lee and Melody Perez topped last Sunday’s “Recoletos Run” of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) at the Plaza Independencia.
Lee, a trackster from the University of Cebu (UC), put up an impressive performance as he won the 16-kilometer men’s race by finishing with a time of 59 minutes and 49 seconds.
Perez, also a trackster from University of San Carlos (USC), topped the distaff side, crossing the finish line at the 1:11.05 mark.
The running event drew more than a thousand runners, mostly students from USJ-R. The run was for the benefit of the USJ-R Alumni Association.
Arnel Florentino was almost a minute behind Lee as he clocked 1:01.26 to finish second while Jomari Gamboa rounded off the top three male runners with a time of 1:13.57.
Perez, meanwhile, outran Michelle Beboso, who breasted the finish line second with a time of 1:17.17. Mereeis Ramirez landed at third, clocking 1:17.20.
Allan Refuela and Marisim Go Solano shared the spotlight in the 6k race as they topped their respective divisions.
Refuela clocked 23:15 to win the men’s race while Solano finished in 36:54 to top the women’s side.
Ronilo Gabilan and Noime Cuenca, on the other hand, ruled the 3k race.
Gabilan finished the men’s race in 11:03 while Cuenca clocked 21:07 in the women’s race.
