On January 10, 2026, the city will host this year’s Sinulog sa Dakbayan, a prelude to the grand celebration this January 18.

Cebu City hotels now 90% booked for Sinulog weekend
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — As the Sinulog weekend nears, hotels in Cebu City, where the festivities are centered, are now operating close to capacity.
Occupancy levels have reached up to 90 percent, with some establishments already fully booked, according to Mia Singson-Leon, president of the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu (HRRAC).
This includes properties near the Cebu Business Park and downtown areas along the procession routes, which began taking in bookings for the Sinulog season as early as last year.

The photos quickly circulated on social media, prompting criticism from netizens who questioned why the senator was allowed to enter the Basilica despite the apparent violation. Some users also raised concerns over the equal enforcement of church rules, particularly during major religious events attended by public officials.

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — As the Sinulog 2026 Festival officially opens, attendees are advised to prepare for possible rainy weather across Cebu this weekend.
In a special Fiesta Señor and Sinulog weather forecast, the Visayas Pagasa Regional Services Division (PRSD) reported cloudy skies with a moderate to high chance of rain and/or thunderstorms on Saturday, January 10.
Light to moderate rain showers may occur on Saturday morning or afternoon in northern and central Cebu, while rains may persist until evening in the southern portions of the province.
