THE 2015 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championships National Finals begins today at the SM Mega Mall in Metro Manila.
The event will showcase the 48 of the brightest young wood pushers in the country. Clashing today are the champions of each regional leg.
The Visayas leg, which happened last July, saw new champions staging huge upsets over Cebuano bets. Adrian Dela Cruz of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) will compete in the seniors division while Philgymn Villajuan of Ormoc City will play in the kiddies division. Genesis Mateo Borromeo of Tanjay City participates in the juniors division.
Joining them will be University of San Jose-Recoletos’ (USJ-R) Jethro Esplanada and University of Cebu’s (UC) Diego Abraham Claro.
