Happy, sad over city allowances, bonuses

Some City Hall workers are  getting impatient and started circulating a petition to press the release of their bonus but 80 barangay captains of Cebu City are happy.

The 80 barangay chiefs and their staff  received  their third-quarter allowance from City Hall yesterday from a P7.2-million outlay.

Each barangay captain received P15,000 or P5,000 per month while barangay councilors received P9,000 or P3,000 per month.

Barangay secretaries and treasurers also received  P6,000 or P2,000 per month allowances.

Meanwhile, an anonymous petition is being passed around, and several  employees have started signing it,  hoping it gets the attention of the City Council which is still  reviewing a proposed P3.32-billion Supplemental Budget 1 (SB1).

The SB includes P78 million for the employees’ Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) which is about a month’s  worth of salary for a worker.

Councilor Margot Osmeña, who heads the budget committee, said a review is ongoing and that certain documents were being requested.

Mayor Michael Rama, who visited the distribution site at  the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel and Casino, talked about his plan to seek reelection.

Rama said he informed them of his plan to seek reelection in the 2016 election.
