Media told to uphold truth

September 21,2015 - 03:51 PM

Yesterday’s opening of the Cebu Press Freedom Week hosted by Cebu Daily News got off to a good start as contingents from Cebu City’s news publications along with the Kapisanan ng Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) who joined the annual parade.

Fr. Dan de los Angeles, a journalist himself and a lawyer, reminded media workers in his homily to always uphold the truth and raise the bar on journalism standards in this digital age.

“May journalists not only comprise the media, but become the message by living lives of truthfulness and truth-telling that sets people free to become the best of themselves,” he said.

Aside from the Mr. and Miss Press Freedom titles, Cebu Daily News also bagged the “Early Bird” and “Star of the Parade” awards and landed third in the group dance competition.

The dance group presentation was won by the KBP while The Freeman snared second place.
