This year’s Metafit Boot Camp Challenge tested the strength and smarts of Cebu’s different media outlets.
The Cebu Daily News team dominated the games with a score of 190 points.
The team of Sun.Star Cebu and GMA 7 tied with 160 points each, but Sun.Star won in the tie breaker.
The Freeman placed fourth with 150 points followed by ABS-CBN with 90 points.
The endurance games designed by Coach Alan Choachuy had each five-member team complete five challenges – the group plank run, medicine ball throw, ring toss, tire push and pull, and military obstacle relay—with corresponding points for speed.
The morning started past 6 a.m. with zumba at Cebu Business Park for all earlybird members of the working press and then the 7th Press Freedom Run participated by more than 100 in the men’s and women’s 5K and 3K categories.
Venus Benting of CDN dominated the men’s 5K event, followed by Bayani Alvarez of ABSCBN, and Chito Fuentes of Sun.Star.
For the women’s 5K category, Hanz Llerin of Sun.Star once again took first place while ABSCBN’s Donna Lavares took second.
Julius Panerio of The Freeman won first place in the men’s 3K event, followed by CDN’s Calvin Cordova and Jay Cris Gunogo.
Grace Morallas of Cebu Daily News clocked in first for the women’s 3K category, Kristine Grace Cebriano of Sun.Star took second place, and Flor Mata also of The Freeman took third place.

The sporting and fitness events were held on the last day of Cebu Press Freedom Week sponsored by Cebu Holdings Inc. with Ayala Center Cebu and Cebu Marriott Hotel.
