A professional diving instructor drowned in barangay Paypay, Daanbantayan, northern Cebu Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Al Bernard Gestopa Coyoca, 33, of Cordova town, was found by high school students at past 1 p.m. lying on the shoreline facing down.  He was still wearing his diving suit. Coyoca was

in Daanbantayan to visit a relative.  At 5 a.m. last Wednesday, he decided to go diving but failed to return home.

PO3 Raymond Pepito, investigator of Daanbantayan police, said they found his oxygen tank a few meters away from his body. Pepito said bad weather may have caused him to drown but they recommend  an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.

His body was brought to St. Peter’s Funeral Homes in Bogo City.
