7 nabbed, P200K worth of drugs seized in buy-bust operations

SEVEN persons were arrested and more than P200,000-worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Cebu.

Elements of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group  of Lapu-Lapu City arrested Moises Hiyas Sr., 57, in a buy-bust operation in barangay Pajac at 11:30 a.m. yesterday.

Police seized several packs of  white crystalline powder believed to be shabu with an estimated value of P200,000.

They also recovered the P500 marked money,   P1,200 cash, drug paraphernalia and a .45 caliber pistol with seven live bullets.

In another operation, elements of the  Marigondon Police Station arrested Harold “Negro” Rivas, a resident of Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City in a buy-bust operation at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police confiscated from his possession 16 small plastic sachets of  white powder believed to be shabu worth P3,200 and drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects are detained at Lapu-Lapu City Headquarters detention cell pending the filing of appropriate charges .

In Cebu City, operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) arrested Jaime Rodriguez, 52, a suspected drug pusher, in  barangay Tejero on Wednesday night.

Rodriguez allegedly sold a pack of shabu worth P200 to a CIB operative who posed as a buyer.

The operation led by Senior Insp. Gomersendo Mandawe stemmed from a tip  they received from the wife of a drug user.

When police frisked him after his  arrest, they found 51 packs and a medium pack of white substance believed to be shabu in Rodriguez’s person.

Four other persons  were also arrested. They were caught sniffing  shabu together.

They are identified as Avenser Pagodo, 22, of Bogo City; Frederick Go, 37, of Carcar City; Marcus Cabucos, 41, of Daanbantayan; and Marvin Pollosos, 38, of Compostela town.

Pagodo is a conductor of passenger bus.

Go and Cabucos are bus dispatchers while Pollosos is a taxi driver.
