LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza offered a slot in her City Council lineup to her rival, businessman Efrain Pelaez Jr., who quickly turned it down.
“No way will I align myself with the Radazas. It’s better if she runs for councilor and I run for mayor . I am more suited than her. She’s got criminal cases so she will have more time to defend herself,” he said.
Pelaez said Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino showed more delicadeza than Radaza by quitting both his post and his slot in the Liberal Party (LP) Senate slate.
“Tolentino’s fault is that he’s linked to the sexy dancers controversy while Paz is linked to P2.6 billion in fake loans,” Pelaez said, referring to a pending fraud case in court over the closed Rural Bank of Subangdaku where Radaza once served as bank president.
One of Radaza’s council candidates quit due to health issues. The mayor said she welcomed Pelaez as a replacement.
“Pelaez says he advocates good governance, and in my five years in office, my administration received several government recognitions such as the 2014 Seal of Good Governance, Good Financial Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG),” she said.
