THE UNIVERSITY of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Panthers (0-2) will look to keep their tournament hopes alive as they battle the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors (1-1) in the semifinals of the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s volleyball tournament today (Friday) at USPF gym.
After dropping their first two assignments, the Panthers are now in danger of not making it to the Finals. But a win would surely help their cause.
Both teams are coming off similar fates as USC bowed to the defending champions Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras while USP-F lost to the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars.
USP-F is also raring to exact revenge at USC after losing to the same Warriors team, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-16, in the elimination round.
Meanwhile, USJ-R (1-1) battles SWU (2-0) in a rematch of last year’s finals.
In the women’s division, USC (1-0) hopes to punch a ticket to the finals when it takes on SWU (1-0) while USJ-R (0-1) guns for its first victory in the semis against USP-F (0-1).
In girls action, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles (1-1) takes on USC (0-2) while USJ-R (2-0) faces SWU (1-1).
