Cobras still clean in Cesafi volley

THE Southwestern University Cobras (3-0) kept their immaculate record intact after crushing the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars (1-2), 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21 yesterday in the semifinal round of the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s volleyball tournament at the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP–F) gym.

After securing the first ticket to the finals last Sunday, SWU carried its winning momentum in their game against the Jaguars, outlasting the latter in a bruisng encounter.

After losing the first set, the Spiking Jaguars regrouped in the second and won it, 25-20 to even the game at 1-set apiece. The Cobras though proved their resilience in the succeeding sets to win in four.

In the women’s division, the Southwestern University Lady Cobras (2-0) likewise punched their ticket to the Finals with a hard-earned, 27-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-15 triumph against the University of San Carlos Lady Warriors (1-1).

Also, the University of San Jose-Recoletos Lady Jaguars (1-1) kept their season alive by blasting the USP-F Lady Panthers (0-2) 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21.

SACRED HEART VS SWU IN GIRLS FINALS

In girls action, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo De Cebu Magis Eagles (2-1) continued their Cinderella run after they annihilated the defending champions University of San Carlos Warriors (0-3), 25-22, 25-22 to advance to the girls championship.

Also, the Southwestern University Cobras (2-1) arranged a titular duel with the Magis Eagles by trampling the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars (2-1) in straight sets, 25-16, 25-23.

The University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars and the University of San Carlos Warriors will duke it out for the third place trophy today.
