THE Lapu-Lapu City government kicked off its pre- fiesta activities last Friday night at the city auditorium.
The fiesta will be celebrated on Nov. 20.
The kickoff night saw the city government employees dining together with the city officials led by Mayor Paz Radaza. A live band and dance party made the night successful.
Radaza in her speech, said they celebrated the first anniversary of the city brand “Lapu-Lapu: The Historic Resort City” two months ago.
She said the branding color is plastered all over the island to promote the city to tourists and investors.
The city brand aims to inculcate a culture of tourism where world-class service and world-class amenities are paramount.
“By wearing their branding color uniform at work means pride of who they are. A people with a noble past and a people who is ever ready to serve others,” the mayor said.
Radaza made sure that that the branding color is not only for show. Radaza mentioned what her administration has achieved such as concreting 96 kilometers of city roads, which is 70 percent complete and the construction of a 6-kilometer long drainage system last year, which cost P204 million.
She said in her five years in office, she institutionalized good governance.
“I have put accountability and transparency as cornerstone. We have made a lot of progress in 2014 we received an award – the 2014 Seal of Good Governance:
Good Financial Housekeeping from the DILG,” she said.
She also said investor confidence is at its peak, “We have to sustain it to create more jobs,” she added.
Radaza urged everyone to support the city’s initiatives to sustain development. “I don’t want to see a single Oponganon left behind. Sa good governance magkuyog tang tanan. As we all prepare for the feast of the Birhen sa Regla let us always seek her intercession and protection for ourselves and our families,” the mayor concluded.
