Five armed men robbed a Cebu Electric Cooperative II (Cebeco II) office in barangay Poblacion, Tabogon town in northern Cebu last Saturday and fled with more than P500,000 cash.
SPO1 Gregorio Licayan, investigator of Tabogon police, said it only took the robbers two minutes to take the P551,000 cash from the Cebeco II office.
Licayan said the robbers arrived at the office on board three motorcycles at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday and disarmed the lone security guard, Tirso Montero.
Licayan said the robbers were armed with .45 caliber pistols.
The cash taken were electric bill collections of Cebeco, which schedules the electric bill payments of consumers every 10th day of the month.
Tellers Felix Pugnaria, Rolando Canama, Joseph Dignos and Lindey Ursal, who were inside the office, were helpless against the armed robbers and put all the cash they had in a bag, which the robbers took.
The robbers fled to a mountain barangay of the town.
Licayan said the robbers were not wearing any masks to hide their faces when they robbed the Cebeco office.
He said he believed that robbers were not from the town since none of those who were inside the office at the time of the robbery could identify any one of the robbers.
