Top local, int’l triathletes to race in Safeguard 5150

Among the 700 triathletes that enlisted for the first-ever Safeguard Active 5150 are five pro and 24 Filipino Elite triathletes who will assault the pristine beaches of Panglao Island in Bohol on Nov. 8.
The pro triathletes will be spearheaded by Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines female pro third-placer Dimity Lee Duke and veteran pro Dan Brown, who are both Australians.
Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines’ most famous couple, Justine and Belinda Granger will also compete in the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40k bike and 10k run that will start and finish at the plush Bellevue Hotel.
The Nov. 8 event will also be Belinda Granger’s farewell race who is set to retire next year. She placed fifth in last August 2’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines.
Completing the list of pro triathletes seeing action in Bohol are Jodie Scott of Australia and Filipina pro triathlete Monica Torres who dominated the female Filipino elite category of the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines.
The race will also serve as the last triathlon event organized by Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI) this year. SEI also organizes the prestigious Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines and the Vaseline Men XTerra Philippines.
Last October 1, SEI drew a record number of 2,900 triathletes from 52 countries for next year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championships set on Aug. 7, 2016 still in Mactan.
Meanwhile, the 24 Filipino elite triathletes who will compete in Bohol include Cobra Ironman 70.3 three-time defending champion August Benedicto and Cebuano triathlon hotshot John Philip Dueñas who placed second to Benedicto last August 2, as well as SEA Games gold medalist Nikko Huelgas and Kim Mangrobang.
Also seeing action are Cobra Ironman 70.3 Filipino elite champion Banjo Norte; Cebuanos Kristiane Lim, Mendel Lopez and Elona Louise Villacin; Warren Troy Vergara, Benjamin Rana Jr., Philip Rito Atento, Noemi Andrea Galeos, Jenny Rose Guerrero, Paul Jumamil, Kristiane Lim, LC Langit, Jonard Saim, Mark Anthony Hosana, John Leerams Chicano and Marvin Verar.
