Policeman’s skeleton found in Badian town

A skeleton found in a hilly part of Badian town, southwest Cebu was identified as the remains of a policeman who was reported missing in February.

Residents looking for firewood came across the human skeleton on Sunday morning.

Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of staff of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas, identified the remains as belonging to PO1 Jimmy Saranillo Jorge.

He was formerly assigned to the Tourist Police Unit but was later transferred to the Mobile Patrol Group last Feb. 14, 2014. But he didn’t report to his new assignment and was marked AWOL, said Supt. Renato Dugan, head of PRO-7’s Human Resource and Development Division.

Jorge was identified by driver’s and firearm’s licenses, an ATM card and other documents in a belt bag on the skeleton.

The bones were examined by the police crime laboratory before they were transferred to Cebu Rolling Hills in Mandaue City.
