Missing cop’s belongings identified by wife

THE wife of PO1 Jimmy Saranillo Jorge, a former police escort of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama who had been missing in more than a year, identified some valuables owned by her husband that had been found  with skeletal remains in Badian town, southwest Cebu.

Marilyn recognized her husband’s ball cap and a T-shirt that were found in barangay Santicon, said Senior Insp. Henry Orbiso, chief of the Badian police, in a case conference yesterday.

Also found were a .357 revolver with one spent shell and four ammunitions, and Samsung Duo phone owned by victim.

The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) was created to handle the case. It will be headed by Supt. Anthony Bagarinao, said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

Gillamac said the skeleton will be subjected to a DNA matching. If it is proven that it was PO1 Jorge’s, an investigation will be made to identify the persons involved in the death.

Yesterday’s case conference was attended by Orbiso, personnel of Philippine National Police (PNP) crime laboratory, Provincial Intelligence Branch and the investigation branch of the Cebu City police.
