M/B Mansan, a motor banca carrying still unconfirmed number of passengers from Talibon, Bohol sank near Camotes Island early today.

In an interview, Cokaliong Shipping Lines founder and chief executive officer Chester C. Cokaliong said their vessel, MV Filipinas Dinagat was able to rescue 26 people between Camotes and Danao at 7:04 a.m today after the vessel encountered sea mishap.

Cokaliong said MV Filipinas Dinagat passed by the area coming from Surigao going to Cebu City.

One rescuer was reported injured after he attempted to rescue.

The Philippine Coast Guard is still verifying if the motor banca capsized or sank.

MV Filipinas Dinagat is expected to arrive in Pier 1 by 11:10 a.m. today.

Ambulance from Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management is now on stand by at Pier 1.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, head of Cebu City’s Command Center, is also in the area.

Update

A total of 28 passengers were rescued by M/V Filipinas Dinagat which docked at Pier 1.

Most of them are vendors selling seafood in Pasil wet market.

The Philippine Coast Guard is still doing more investigation on the incident which happened at around 11 p.m. yesterday.
