CEBU City Hall’s legal office will investigate the hiring of the contractor for the Cebu Carbon Market Unit 11 project.
Mayor Michael Rama said the city government will answer questions raised by former mayor Tomas Osmeña on the alleged awarding of the P167.3 million Carbon market project contract to Geety Realty and Development Corp.
“It is being handled by the city attorney. We will be replying in a proper manner,” he told reporters.
Yesterday, the mayor’s chief of staff Dominic Dino wrote Osmeña informing him that his request has been forwarded to City Atty. Jerone Castillo who will call for a clarificatory conference with the city’s Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).
“We have to look into the process. The Notice of Award and the Notice to Proceed is just an offshoot of the entire process. We will request the BAC members and officers to explain,” Castillo said.
Osmeña said he looked into the documents on the Carbon market project and found out that the contractor didn’t have the license from the Philippine Contractors Association Board (PCAB).
He also said Geety is being investigated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
The city already paid the contractor more than P25 million as initial payment for the project.
