THE CEBU City Sports Commission (CCSC) will kick start the first ever Cebu Air Rifle Grassroots Competition this Saturday (Oct. 24) at the Cebu City Sports Institute (CCSI).
The event aims to search for future Olympians who will represent the country in international tournaments.
Spanish veteran rifle shooter and committee head Miguel Rodriguez said the event also aims to develop the shooting skills of kids aged 9 to 14 years old.
“It is mostly to extend to the grassroots athletes and develop their abilities,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez believes this event will be a big help for the participants, especially since it is done for free. “Before it was so expensive. Now it’s given for free.”
The committee is expecting 300 to 500 participants to join.
“What’s at stake is a chance to be an Olympian and play in international competitions,” Rodriguez added.
