CEBU’S YOUNG wood pushers will look to earn a spot in the upcoming Batang Pinoy Championships as they duke it out in a qualifying chess tournament on Saturday at TGU Tower at the Cebu IT Park.
The players who are competing in the qualifiers are aged 15 and below. Spearheading the young woodpushers are veteran mentors Marvin Ruelan and coach Michael Joseph Pagaran.
Fourteen young hopefuls will be battling for supremacy in the boys division while nine players are set to compete in the girls division.
The winners in each division will represent the Cebu Province in the Batang Pinoy National Championships next month here in Cebu.
