A warehouse of a major mango processing plant in Mandaue City was damaged by fire Thursday morning.
The fire started in a warehouse of Profoods International Corp. where workers were fabricating metals. A spark from the machines used by the metal fabricator hit stored flammable goods resulting in fire around 9:30 a.m.
The fire however was contained within the warehouse. Other buildings in the 10-hectare plant that processes mango for the export and domestic markets were spared by the fire. The company’s firetruck controlled the conflagration with the help of firefighters from the Mandaue Fire Department. Damage to property was pegged at around P200,000.00
