Drug raids net 8 men, P1-M shabu’

Police seized at least P1 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested eight persons in two anti-drug operations yesterday in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City.
Jonathan Estrera was the subject of buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) past 1 p.m. in sitio Cahipa, barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City.
Estrera was arrested after he allegedly sold two packs of shabu to a CIB operative, who acted as buyer.
Estrera’s five companions were also arrested. They were later identified as Rogers Ybanez, Joepe Burgos, Burt Jason Turno, Rey Angelo Pena, and Billy Pena.
Ybanez was previously convicted for robbery and drug charges. His brother Gernie was also arrested in the past on drug charges.
Supt. Romeo Santander, CIB chief estimated the worth of the seized shabu at P1 million based on guidelines of the Dangerous Drugs Board.
A .45 caliber pistol owned by Estrera was also seized as well as two large packs, six medium-size packs and 35 sachets believed to contain shabu.
Three persons were also arrested in separate buy-bust operations conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.
A certain Ronel, the subject of the operation, was able to elude arrest.
Arrested for possession of illegal drugs were Diomedes Renos Pejana, Gaspar Delfino Mejias, and Roque Jake Llamas Cosep.
