A 9-YEAR-OLD girl died last Saturday after she was sideswiped by a speeding mini-dump truck while she was walking along the road in barangay Daanlungsod, Alcoy town in southern Cebu.
Artnielyn Mae Mosqueda suffered severe head injuries and did not reach the hospital alive.
Police said the victim was on her way home after buying shampoo from a nearby store when she was hit by the truck loaded with sand.
Truck driver Agapito Altamera, 27, of Boljoon town, told police that he was heading south when another vehicle suddenly encroached on his lane, and he had to swerve to avoid crashing head on with it.
Altamera was detained at the police station after the accident, but he was released last Saturday night after reaching a settlement with the girl’s parents.
