CCSC summer grassroots program hailed a huge success

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) Summer Grassroots Program 2026 concluded successfully on Saturday, May 16, at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero.
The free community-based sports program was able to train nearly 3,000 children aged 7 to 14 across 26 sports disciplines during its two-month run.
CCSC Chairman Dr. Rhoel Dejano said the program deployed coaches and trainers with the primary objective of giving children a productive and meaningful summer activity while encouraging them to stay active, healthy, and away from a sedentary lifestyle centered on gadgets.
“At the same time, the program also served as an avenue to discover and develop new and promising athletic talents from our communities,” said Dejano.
“Overall, I can proudly say that the program was a success, with close to 3,000 children participating throughout the two-month activity,” he added.

The 2025 Sportsman of the Year awardee likewise acknowledged the support of the SK Federation for its valuable assistance in implementing the project.
“To our coaches and trainers, thank you for generously sharing your time, passion, and expertise with our young participants. Your guidance has inspired and motivated the next generation of athletes,” Dejano said.
“To the parents, thank you for your trust, encouragement, and support in allowing your children to take part in this meaningful program,” he added.
“And most importantly, to all the children who joined, thank you for your enthusiasm, discipline, and energy. You are the true heart of this program, and we hope this experience has inspired you to continue pursuing sports, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.”
“Thank you very much, and congratulations to everyone who helped make the Summer Grassroots Program a success,” Dejano added.
For his part, Archival announced that the grassroots program will continue and will be sustained under his administration.
