Cebu City is chosen as one of the 967 beneficiary areas of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)’s P1.4 billion free Wi-Fi Internet service initiative.
In a letter to Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, DOST Undersecretary Louis Napoleon Casambre asked for the Cebu City government’s support for the program.
The Wi-Fi initiative is part of the government’s “Internet for all” campaign under the Philippine Digital Strategy 2011-2016.
Cebu City Administrator Lucelle Mercado said a DOST team will be coming to Cebu City within the month to conduct site inspections and installation works in the areas where the free Wi-Fi will be placed.
