Dalaguete’s Silvano fights Palicte in Taguig

DALAGUETE’S hard hitting Virgilio “Maton” Silvano returns inside the ring on Nov. 13 against Aston Palicte in the main event of the MP Promotions USA to be held at the Bonifacio Naval Station in Taguig City.

Silvano, who sports a 20-5-1 (win-loss-draw) record with 12 knockout wins, last fought in July but lost to Jetro Pabustan in Cotabato. The Cebuano is hoping to get back on track against Palicte, who carries a record of 19-1-0 (17KOs).

But the road won’t be easy for Silvano as he is facing a 24-year-old Palicte who is one of the most highly regarded young boxers in the country because of his high knockout percentage.

Palicte is coming off a string of stoppage victories, beginning with a first-round knockout of Thailand’s Jomyuthlek Sor Narongchai to win the IBF Youth super flyweight title last Jan. 31. After that, he scored a seventh-round technical knockout win over Ismael Garnica last March 7. Palicte followed this up with a third-round knockout of Michael Escobia on May 30 and then a fourth-round TKO victory over Fernando Ocon on Aug. 14.
