MANILA, Philippines – The senatorial bloc led by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano pushed through with the blue ribbon committee hearing on the flood control scandal Thursday despite the ongoing leadership dispute in the chamber.
Cayetano, who claims that he remains the legitimate Senate president, earlier said the hearing would proceed as scheduled and assured to ensure access to the session hall, setting up a potential clash with the camp of Acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, which has suspended official Senate business pending the reorganization of committees.

Sen. Pia Cayetano presides over the hearing, but on Wednesday, Sen. Erwin Tulfo was elected as the panel’s head.
Aside from the Cayetanos, Sens. Robin Padilla, Imee Marcos and Rodante Marcoleta are also present. /dp
