THREE boxers from the Abellana National School (ANS) punched their ticket to next year’s Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet after they clobbered separate opponents yesterday in the boxing event of the Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) boxing gym.
Abellana’s fighting pride Rodrie Mar Umpad bagged the gold in the mosquito weight division with a unanimous decision win over Jay Tanudra of Mabolo National High School (MNHS), 10-9, 10-8, 10-9.
ANS’ other gold medalists were Edward Jimenez in the light mosquito division and Ralf Lauren Birundo in the light flyweight class.
Nicole James Ramos of Dr. Emilio Osmeña Integrated School logged the most lopsided victory of the meet after scoring a first round Technical Knockout (TKO) win over Philip John Lepogpog in the pinweight division.
The above mentioned winners will represent Cebu City in next year’s CVIRAA set from January 31 to February 6 in the City of Naga.
