A FEMALE tourist complained that she was almost raped by a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver by the beach in sitio Basdaku, Moalboal town last Tuesday.
The 24-year-old woman from Cebu City was reading a book in a tent by the shore in White Beach when the driver, identified as Loue Pocong, approached her and engaged her in conversation.
The woman said she excused herself to go to the bathroom in the public beach. The man barged inside and started touching her body.
She said the driver pushed her head into the wall and repeatedly punched her in the belly. A caretaker of a nearby resort noticed the commotion and rushed to her aid. Pocong fled but was identified by the bicylce he left nearby, said SPO3 Stewart Bayang.
Police said tourists who spend time alone in the beach should take precautions especially females.
