Mom of rescued minor may face charges

The 17-year-old girl who was rescued by police in a drug raid in Toledo City will be turned over to social workers while her mother could face charges for allowing her to live with a drug suspect, police said.

The girl will undergo debriefing as well as physical and mental examination.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), said the girl’s mother may be charged for allegedly consenting to her daughter’s relationship with drug suspect Wilson “Pretty Boy” Villanueva.

Villanueva was shot dead after he allegedly tried to shoot at the raiding policemen last Sunday.

The girl dropped out of high school after her German father allegedly stopped sending money.

She was also not doing good in class as Villanueva allegedly influenced her to do drugs.

The German father, who arrived only last Thursday, visited the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) yesterday to check on his daughter and estranged wife.

He commended the police for a job well done.

He said he was not aware that the house he built for his estranged wife and daughter has been turned into a drug den.

The German national and Ana (not her real name) were married for 25 years but their relationship turned sour more than a year ago.

In an earlier interview, Ana said she did not know about her daughter’s involvement with Villanueva.

She also claimed to have no idea of their illegal drug activities.

But SPO1 Reynaldo Solante, team leader of the operation, said that based on their surveillance, Ana was aware of the drug operation inside her house.

Last Sunday’s operation was a follow up of a previous drug raid that resulted in the recovery of a police uniform owned by a certain PO1 Marvin Tundag, allegedly Villanueva’s partner.

The police arrested suspects Danilo Flores, Vincent Barcenas and Julius Cuberos and confiscated 23 grams of illegal drugs worth P271,000, paraphernalia, one red Mazda sedan and a motorcycle.

An investigation is also being conducted to trace the owner of a .45 caliber pistol recovered in the house during the raid.

“We suspect that the .45 caliber pistol belongs to a PNP personnel. Now, this PNP personnel, this police officer was cited that he was in the drug den during an operation before,” said Gillamac.

PO1 Tundag has been relieved from his post in Pinamungajan Police and is the subject of an administrative investigation.

If the firearm found in the drug den belongs to Tundag, Gillamac said this will aggravate the case filed against him.
