FOUR families were left homeless after a fire damaged a house on stilts in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City early morning yesterday.

An unattended open flame may have caused the fire that started at 5:37 a.m. and was put out ten minutes after.

Jose Epi said he suspected the strong winds blew embers from the open flame to his house.

Property damage was pegged at P200,000.

SFO1 Hadji Luden Samonte, arson investigator, said it was fortunate that the fire happened during low tide, allowing firefighters to easily reach the burning house.

No one was injured in the incident.

All occupants were able to run for safety  and salvage their  belongings.

Fire victims were given a tent as temporarily shelter.

The City Social Welfare and Services also provided packed meals to the displaced residents.
